The CUES Podcast Episode 34 cover technology and card trends.

Everything is going mobile. Loan applications are being done on mobile. Consumers are doing their banking on mobile. Social marketing is taking place on mobile.

The biggest trend in credit union technology today is around delivery, Terence Roche suggests in the CUES Podcast Episode 34. And the biggest trend in delivery is mobile.

What does this mean for boards of directors, who shouldn’t get mired in day-to-day technology management?

“We have to change the mix of our technology spending,” explains Roche, principal with CUES Supplier member and strategic provider Cornerstone Advisors, Scottsdale, Ariz. “We have to take more mature systems where costs have commoditized a bit, get the advantage in the contracts of that commoditization and reinvest those dollars into these new delivery systems.”

In this episode of the podcast, Roche identifies questions directors should ask about technology at their credit unions in light of this trend toward mobile delivery. He also gives high-level insight into the direction debit and credit card programs should be taking to maximize credit union income from these programs.
