Marketing Expertise from Outside the Industry

Yesterday Rob Folsom, CCE, greeted attendees of the CEO Institute Graduate Exchange, the first-ever gathering of CEO Institute graduates, going on right now in San Diego. (I know this because my boss is in attendance at the event.)

Senior vice president of $700 million USA Federal Credit Union, San Diego, Folsom said his CU has hired a marketing executive who used to work for a record company. And he's found that fresh perspective very useful.

Has anyone else out there hired a marketing exec from outside the credit union movement? Did it go well? Any concerns?
