I'm not much for reality TV and I've never watched American Idol, but I am bumming a bit over having to miss the two-hour premier of The Next Food Network Star tonight. You see the hotel in Toronto where I'm staying for CUES' DLI: Governance institute (more on that when it gets underway tomorrow) doesn't carry the food channel!
Lucky for me, there's a challenge going on right now that's just as interesting--and I can even vote. You can too. It's the Next Top Credit Union Exec, which attracted 41 entrants from all over the U.S. and Canada. Each young credit union professional produced a 60-second video that showcases themself and outlines a project they're working on.
I can't say enough about the variety and creativity of these projects--they relate to just about every area of a credit union, including lending, risk management, retail delivery, employee talent management ... And I've only viewed about a third of the entries!
Take a look for yourself and then cast your vote in each of the six regions. Polls close June 14. Six finalists will then move on to present their projects at CUES' CEO Executive/Team Network in Dallas, where one young CU professional will be named the Next Top Credit Union Exec. Although this person will not get their own show on the Food Network, he or she will receive an education package valued at $20,000--and plenty of opportunities to leave a mark on the movement!
